Jimmy Rehman takes 2014 LAB RAT of the Year!

Skatelab’s Skater of the Month is pretty much just a fun thing we do for our younger locals. For some, it’s nothing more than a couple high fives from our crew. For others, it’s a grand achievement they will remember for years! Each month we announce a new name to join the ranks of Skatelab’s SOTM. We’re always on the lookout for a rider that rips and sets them self apart from the rest. A SOTM must be no stranger to the park and it never hurts or maybe it does hurt to know our staff. Whether we’ve had our eyes on you for months, you begged and begged every day or you were just at the right place at the right time, we’ve got a great roster of 2014 SOTM riders.

At the end of the year we host a private session for the SOTM winners where we announce the one and only, Lab Rat of the year. With a dozen nominees it was a close call and a tough decision. In the end, we made the right choice and awarded local hero Jimmy Rehman the 2014 title!

Jimmy has constantly put in hard work throughout the year. He’s got a freestyle and unique way of riding a skateboard. Jimmy is not exactly throwing himself down 12-stair rails or blasting indy grabs out of the bowl but his combinations on the coping are opening eyes and making one double take his maneuvers. Many of Jimmy’s tricks leave skaters wondering “how did he do that”. Whether this Simi Valley local is nailing a new variation on our 3 foot QP or moving through the park like a freight train, he’s always interesting to watch.

Jimmy has a great attitude and is one of the most humble skaters we know. He might not achieve the ranks of professionals but it’s certain that he exemplifies skateboarding in it’s rawest form. Jimmy is truly a skateboarder who is focused on having fun and frankly, that’s what it’s all about!

Check out Jimmy’s instagram page to see just what we mean!

Congratulations Mr. Rehman! You are killing it and we know you will continue to excel into 2015.

As for you other Lab Rat of the year nominees.. you better get back out there and start pushing the limits!!
