Forever Young: A Tribute to Van Wastell

Van was a Kid I knew for almost his entire life. My brother and I were good Friends with his older Brothers, Jeff, Andy and Kurt and later became Friends with his step Brother Eddie. We watched Van drop into a halfpipe for the very first time when he was about 4 on Belinda Street in Simi Valley and we enjoyed watching him go from a little shredder to a big shredded eventually becoming a Professional Skateboarder riding for legit companies like Krooked, Spitfire, Independent, Matix, Vans and others. Tragically on Friday Sept. 5th, 2008 Van fell from a Berlin hotel window to his death. He was only 24. It is called FOREVER YOUNG because that is how I get to always remember my Friend, Forever Young. He packed an amazing lifetime into 24 short years and this tribute will give you just a glimpse of the amazing person Van Wastell was. This tribute / retrospective will run in The Skateboarding Hall of Fame Gallery at Skatelab until 1/1/2012 to honor Van and we will kick it all off with a Skate Jam, Saturday Sept. 17th. 7pm until 1am.
